Partners of the EURASIA-Net Project invite to apply for the Summer School within Tuesday, 13 May 2008.

The core themes of the Summer School will be international standards on minority and human rights in Europe, compared with human and minority rights standards in South Asia (including the role of SAARC), soft law mechanisms of minority protection and their possible dissemination in South Asia, concepts of federalism and autonomy (including case studies, like South Tyrol and Kashmir), indigenous rights and ethnic diversity both in Europe and South Asia. During the 10 working days of the Summer
School the participants will be offered a wide range of activities: lectures, workshops, case studies, group work, study visit as well as an excursion.

Lectures will be held in English language by researcher and experts from partner institutions, academics and practitioners from international bodies, like Council of Europe or OSCE.

The Summer School is open to indicatively 15-20 researches, civil servants, politicians and other stakeholders (e.g. media) dealing with human and minority rights issues from Europe and South Asia. Geographical balance will be pursued. Participation of women is encouraged in view of a fair gender distribution. Selected participants are not required to pay fees. A limited number of scholarships will be
offered for travel and accommodation costs.

Persons who are interested in applying for the Summer School, however cannot keep the submission deadline are kindly asked to contact the organisers by 13 May and thereupon send the application by Friday, 16 May.
