Saint Louis University Invests $1 Million in Aid for International Students

Saint Louis University has announced that it will provide $1 million in new institutional aid to international students for the 2011-2012 academic year. The University currently educates students from more than 80 different countries and is exploring new educational partnerships in
China and India.

"As we continue to recruit students from around the world, it is important that we remember that many of them face the same financial realities as our American students," said University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J. "This investment not only reflects our strong commitment to
our international students, but also our rising status as a global institution. "

Saint Louis University is enhancing its support of international students in other ways as well. The University recently completed a new Center for Global Citizenship, which brings SLU's internationally focused academic programs and support services under one roof. The center also features a 1,000-square- foot student lounge, state-of-the- art conference rooms with global teleconferencing capabilities and a classroom dedicated to supporting international teaching.

USA: Darton College International Student Fellowship Program

Each year, Darton College offers a limited number of fellowships to highly qualified international students. The Darton College International Student Fellowship Program waives the out-of-state cost of tuition for eligible students. Students who receive this fellowship will pay the in-state tuition, which is approximately $2,412 (for the fall and spring semesters only). This will be a savings of approximately $7,200 per year (including summer semester).

In order to be eligible for an International Student Fellowship, applicants must meet all admissions requirements for enrollment into Darton College. Fellowship recipients must be enrolled full-time, with a minimum course load of twelve (12) credit hours. Recipients are also required to assist the college with campus and community activities. Continuation of Fellowship Awards is contingent upon the recipient’s academic performance and contributions to the campus and community.

International Student Scholarships and Graduate Assistantships at Northern Kentucky University

Greetings from Northern Kentucky University! I am writing to update you on important deadlines and offerings at Northern Kentucky University. We are well into our fall semester which began in August but we are still accepting applications for the spring semester which will begin on January 10, 2010.

*International Student Award*
At least ten new international students will be chosen at the beginning of every semester to receive the International Student Award which is in the amount of $2,000/ year and is renewable based on grades. Students will be chosen for this scholarship based on their grades and test scores. Interested students do not need to complete a
new application to apply for this scholarship.

*Transfer Award*
The Transfer Award is available for students who transfer to Northern Kentucky University a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited university any where in the world. This award is in the amount of $2,000/year and students do not need to complete any additional applications for this scholarship.

The university is also offering a large variety of institutional scholarships for students planning to enroll in August 2010. These scholarships cover a range of amounts but may include full tuition and room and board. I know it is hard to believe, but the truth is that Berea College awards admission and a four-year tuition scholarship (valued at over $23,000) to 30 international students every year. Ranked among the top private colleges in the United States, Berea College is committed to serving students with great academic promise whose family financial resources will not otherwise permit access to an academic program of such high distinction.

Admission is competitive. Each year we receive over 500 international applications for admission and scholarship. International Students at Northern Arizona University

Award Amount

a.. $5,500 will be applied to undergraduate out-of-state tuition each year, divided over two semesters for up to eight total semesters, if renewal criteria are met.

b.. Fall and spring semesters only – not available during summer sessions or winter intersession.

Criteria

a.. Your first semester at NAU must be during the fall or spring semester of the academic year. This award cannot be used at other universities or colleges.

b.. Visa Classification: F-1 (student)

c.. Cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.25 or better

d.. Must have passed the Test of English as a Foreign Language requirement

e.. Awarded to students receiving their first degree and at the point of first enrollment only

Renewal Criteria

a.. This award is renewable and can be used for up to a total of 8 semesters only providing you:

b.. Attend fall and spring semesters as a full-time student (12 credit hours minimum, each semester)

c.. Maintain a minimum 3.25 Cumulative Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) at the end of every Spring Semester.

Fall Semester Awardees

Your cumulative G.P.A. will be checked at the end of every Spring Semester. You will lose the scholarship at the end of the Spring Semester if you do not have a 3.25 cumulative G.P.A. or better. You will not be awarded the scholarship again if you lose it

Spring Semester Awardees
- Your cumulative G.P.A. will be checked at the end of the Spring Semester. If you do not have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.25 or better, you may take classes during the summer of 2008 at NAU to improve your grades. You will lose the scholarship at the end of the summer session if you do not have a 3.25 cumulative G.P.A. or better. You will not be awarded the scholarship again if you lose it.

Combining Awards

This award cannot be combined with other tuition awards. It cannot be applied to mandatory or special class fees, or to other charges such as housing, meal plans, etc. This is a merit-based scholarship and not a need-based scholarship.

Other Awards
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship

International students who have attended a 2-year college in the U.S., and who will be attending NAU the semester following their current enrollment, and who are members of PTK at the 2-year college, are eligible for the PTK scholarship. The scholarship is renewable for one year after the initial year (for a maximum of 2 years).
