The 14th general meeting of European Women in Mathematics
The 14th general meeting of European Women in Mathematics (EWM) will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia during August 25-28, 2009. You are warmly invited to participate in the conference.
For more than 20 years EWM has organized biennial conferences which are open to members as well as non-members of EWM. The most recent, the 13th general meeting, took place in September 2007, at the University of Cambridge, UK, gathering more than 100 women mathematicians from various fields of research.
In August of next year, the 14th general meeting of EWM will be held at theDepartment of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad.
The 2009 European Mathematical Society lecturer will be Professor Ingrid Daubechies, and she will give some of her EMS lectures at the EWM meeting in Novi Sad. Professor Jelena Kovačević has also agreed to give a plenary lecture at the meeting. The complete list of invited speakers and the scientific programme will be planned in collaboration with the Scientific Committee, consisting of twelve internationally leading women mathematicians, which has been recently established jointly by the European Mathematical Society (EMS) and EWM.
Located on the Danube River, Novi Sad is the urban center of northern Serbia, its second largest city and the capital of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Novi Sad is a hospitable town; we hope that you will enjoy its open-hearted welcome.

Jacobson Foundation is pleased to announce the 2nd International NGO/CBO Workshop: - Transforming civil society" that will bring together 314 representatives of NGOs/CBOs from all over the world is scheduled from 7th to 12th April, 2008 in New York, United States of America, (U.S.A.). The objectives of the summit are: to provide participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills of the quality required for the advancement of the fight for peace and, to provide a personal development experience tailored to the needs of NGOs/CBOs that will enable participants to review and assess their own capabilities with a view to identifying ways in which they can increase the effectiveness of their contribution to the organizations they work for and to the process of development.
The methodology for the summit: The summit will be conducted on participatory lines with short plenary inputs followed by general and small group discussions.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
The summit enjoys financial support from the Mistubishi Bank of Japan and the Bill Gates Foundation. As a result, Jacobson Foundation will provide sponsorship for up to four (4) participants only per selected organization (Developing countries only).
NOMINATION AND SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS:
We are pleased to inform you that your organization has been selected for sponsorship to the summit. This in recognition of your organization's contribution to the NGO/CBO movement in your country. You are therefore requested to nominate four (4) active members from your organization to benefit from the sponsorship. In order to foster gender balance, we would appreciate if your delegation contains two (2) female participants.
THE SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE WILL COVER THE FOLLOWING:
- Round trip economy air transport (or equivalent in land transport) from
participants' nearest airport to Kennedy International Airport and vice-versa.
- Meals and refreshments for the entire summit duration. However, each participant will be required to pay a registration fee of US$ 300 (Three Hundred United States Dollars). This fee will go towards each participant's accommodation for six nights and medical insurance.
Jacobson Foundation will not assume responsibility for costs other than those listed above.
The Nomination form which will be sent to you as soon as you confirm your organization's participation must be completed by the nominating organization and faxed to Jacobson Foundation fax number +1-720-294-5952 before March 12th, 2008. European meeting between teachers in schools of journalism and european journalists about the european information
hello,
In a couple of days the 23th and 24th of november , we will organize an european meeting between teachers in schools of journalism and european journalists about the european information.
We are looking for teachers and journalists in your country interested in these subjects. Will it be possible for you to help us to find them? I'll send you the invitation and the subject of these meeting. The european radio will give 240 euros to participate to the fees.
