Co-Chair (one position available), Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism, London, UK

ASEN is pleased to announce a new opportunity to act as one of the two Chairs that head up the world's leading organization for the study of ethnicity and nationalism. ASEN is unique, in that it is a research association run almost entirely by postgraduate students.

The successful applicant will be directly involved in setting the priorities of Association and overseeing the Executive Committee members charged with administering ASEN's various files (e.g. Annual Conference, seminar series, newsletter, partnerships, membership). In addition the Co-Chairs sit on the Editorial Teams of ASEN's two leading scholarly journals: Nations and Nationalism and Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism.

The Chair's duties generally encompass 7 hours per week and the appointment is for a 12 month period (beginning in September, 2010). Ideally, the Chair will regularly work from ASEN's headquarters at the London School of Economics, in order to be available for urgent situations that require their attention; although, flexible working arrangements will be considered. Applications from postgraduate students in the London area are encouraged.

The position is unpaid; although, in recognition of the vital contribution the position makes to ASEN, the Chair is provided with a work space in the ASEN office (to be used for both ASEN and personal work), administrative support by an Office Manager and access to LSE academic resources (in addition to other benefits).
