Graduate Studies in Ecology, Evolution and Systematic, UMSL

*Graduate Studies in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics*

*Department of Biology, University of Missouri-St. Louis*

*Teaching and Research Fellowships*

PROGRAM: The Department of Biology (* http://www.umsl. edu/~biology/ index.html* )

at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (*http://www.umsl. edu) is recruiting graduate students to join its Ph.D. and master's programs in *Ecology, Evolution and Systematics (EES).* Biology graduate students in EES conduct research on a variety of topics in ecology, population biology, behavior, evolution, systematics, and conservation. The programs maintain a strong focus in tropical ecology, with a large proportion of students coming from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Successful applicants have strong academic credentials and are offered Teaching or Research Assistantships that provide a stipend and tuition fee waiver and, subject to satisfactory academic progress, are renewable for up to five years.

PARTNERS: The Biology Department, through its Whitney R. Harris World

Ecology Center (*http://hwec. umsl.edu* ), has very close links with the Missouri Botanical Garden (*http://www.mobot. org*) and the Saint Louis Zoo (*http://www.stlzoo. org*).

The Harris Center provides additional support to EES graduate students through its competitive research grant program and also has funds to provide conference travel support. UM-St. Louis is a member of the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS, *http://www.ots. duke.edu/ *) and students can enroll in an OTS course for credit and may receive financial support from the Harris Center.
