EUROPEAN WEEKEND SCHOOL
“The Future of European Union and Turkey’s Accession Perspectives”

Center for European Studies Student Forum cordially invites you to the fourth European Weekend School on 18 - 21 May at Boðaziçi University, Istanbul. EWS is an international certificate program that brings together undergraduate and graduate students from all over Europe; and enables them to exchange opinions with distinguished politicians, bureaucrats, academics, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and leading journalists.
During EWS, academics, including Jean Monnet professors, from American, European and Turkish universities will be giving a series of lectures and seminars to the participants on:
Ø "The future of the EU in alternative perspectives: theories and narratives";
Ø "The future of CFSP and ESDP";
Ø "The future of regionalism and structural funds";
Ø "Constitutional and Public Opinion Challenges to the EU"; and
Ø "Turkish accession perspectives to the EU".
There will also be a workshop during which participants will have an opportunity to put forward, debate and adopt proposals concerning the above topics as well as other related issues.
The EWS includes a social program composed of receptions, lunches, dinners, visits to museums and sight seeing in Istanbul.

Deadline for application is 17 April 2006 Monday.
In principle acceptance will be based on an evaluation of “statement of purpose” submitted by applicants. However, an effort will also be made to achieve as broad a representation as possible from across European countries. Maximum number of participants per country may be limited to three. The overall number of participants is expected to be around fifty including Turkish students. Priority will be given to:
Ø Heads of National Youth Councils or any other representatives from such councils;
Ø Students with experience shaping public opinion in their respective countries;
Ø Students with a strong interest in the EU and motivation to contribute to the debate on the future of European integration.
Selected participants will be notified by 24 April 2006 Monday.
Participation Fee: 50 euro
The accommodation, food and social program expenses of the participants will be covered by the EWS. Travel costs may be covered under exceptional circumstances and depending on the availability of funds.
Participation from the public is encouraged but interested persons should send a notification, including institutional affiliation and position, to apply@acmof.org by 12 May 2006 Friday after which they will receive invitations.
