The Asia Pacific Leadership Program

The Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) is the center of excellence for leadership education in Asia Pacific and a signature program of the East-West Center. The program links advanced and interdisciplinary analysis of emergent regional issues with experiential leadership learning.

The APLP empowers future leaders with the knowledge, skills, experiences and supportive community needed to successfully navigate personal and regional change in the 21st century.

Graduates leave the East-West Center with an expanded regional perspective. They are knowledgeable about the societies and issues of the Asia Pacific region and trained to exercise leadership and promote cooperation in a variety of cultural, geographical and institutional environments.

CfA: Leadership Development Programme 2008/09, Transfuse Berlin

Dear all,

In an effort to support the integration process in South-eastern Europe, the TRANSFUSE Association from Berlin and the College of Europe from Bruges are organising the third year a Leadership Development Programme for young people from South-eastern Europe, as well as broader Europe and the United States, who aspire to play an active role in the future of their countries.

The 2008/09 Programme will consist of the following activities:

Two-week Summer Academy in Germany (Berlin/Surrounding ) - 30 August - 13 September 2008
The curriculum will include topics related to the European Union and the development of its relations with Southeast Europe as well as wider issues of international and economic relations. Practical training components focussing on negotiations, project management and presentation skills will provide participants with essential
leadership qualities.

Group Activities in Southeast Europe - between November 2008 and March 2009
The participants will work together in small groups to develop and implement a joint activity or an event in South-eastern Europe.

Five-day Seminar in Belgium (Brussels/Bruges) - April 2009
The Final Seminar offers visits to the EU institutions and NATO in Brussels and to the Campus of the College of Europe in Bruges.

The Programme will be led by an Academic Dean, who will guide the participants through the different aspects of the Programme. The working language of the Programme is English. The participants are expected to be available during the overall period of the Programme (July 2008 - April 2009) and to attend each planned activity.

Only 30 selected applicants will be invited to participate. Their participation in the Programme will be sponsored by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the King Baudouin Foundation.

USA: Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry

The Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry(R) is an applied leadership, cross cultural training program designed for young professionals and experienced students who share the dream of building a leadership career in business and industry, who want to make a positive change in life, and who want to form an active and global network.

This 6 week program takes place at Lehigh University, PA, USA each summer, bringing together 90 students, business leaders and young professionals from over 40 countries.

Qualifications -- We are looking for highly motivated, unique and well-rounded individuals with vision and a sense of mission. Academic excellence should be balanced with leadership experience. The program is conducted in English and fluency is required.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Asia Pacific Leadership Program

An innovative graduate level certificate program that combines the development of regional expertise with the enhancement of individual leadership skills.
Type of study: A five or nine-month course of study; includes seminars, field studies and internships.

Eligibility: Early- to mid-career professionals; currently enrolled graduate students; and recent university graduates from all countries.

Provisions: Substantial funding for tuition, field studies and health insurance. Supplemental scholarship assistance for living expenses and housing in graduate residence hall.

Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in the private sector and should intend to return to the private sector

The award will help cover EWC program fees.

Jean E. Rolles Fellowships
(For applicants from Asia Pacific and the United States)

For applicants with a demonstrated interest in the environment, economics, or the travel and hospitality industry

The award will help cover housing costs.

Eleanor and Hermann Haus Fellowships
(For applicants from Asia Pacific and the United States)

For applicants with a record of and intention to be involved in developing a better environment, whether in design, engineering or management.

The award will help cover housing costs.
