CfA: Participants from Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo: Report the Environment

Call for Participants: Reporting the Environment

Transitions (www.tol.org) and RESPEKT magazine (www.respekt.cz) invite applications for participation in Reporting the Environment, a training project aimed at helping reporters from Serbia, Bosnia and Kosovo obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to cover environmental topics.

The year-long project includes distance learning and learning-by- doing components, a two-day seminar in Sarajevo in September 2009, and a study trip to Prague for the most active participants in the autumn.

Throughout this project, participants will broaden their knowledge of the environment affairs in their own countries and internationally and will learn the principles of effective and accurate reporting of environmental issues. International and regional experts on the environment and senior reporters covering environmental issues will share their insights as well as highlight best practices. The project will focus in particular on developing skills necessary for understanding and effectively communicating scientific data as well as investigative techniques practiced in environmental reporting.

Professional journalists from Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo with at least two to three years of experience and an expressed interest in covering environmental issues are eligible to apply. The project's working language is English.
