Dear colleagues,
This is a call for participation in a multi-annual research program on Interconfessional/ interreligious relations in South-eastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean from 1850 to 1940.
The program is hosted by the French School in Athens http://www.efa.gr includes numerous institutional participants and will be running at least until 2012. More information regarding the topics and hypotheses can be found on the program's dedicated site:
http://interconf.efa.gr
The program includes 3 working groups:
1/ School and education in multi-confessional contexts
2/ Charity and philanthropy and social networking by religious and communautarian actors
3/ Women and gender in inter-confessional relations
The researchers composing the working groups can have at their disposition the dedicated site http://interconf.efa.gr which is composed of a "public" part diffusing information and making the researchers' work visible and a "private" section, which functions as a digital workspace, i.e. a forum where they can post pre-prints, mission reports and thus stimulate a discussion adn obtain feedback from their fellow group participants.
The program has a need-based fieldwork-funding policy.
Each group determines its own goals and perspectives for the next three years (publications, meetings etc.) given the fact that an international conference held in 2012 in the French School of Athens will unite the three groups and make an overall assessment of the work accomplished.
In the meantime, besides working through the digital workspace, each group meets once a year in a closed workshop in order to appreciate and discuss the year's progress and forthcoming agenda.
The program now calls interested researchers to join the program. We especially welcome:
- junior scholars (advanced Ph.d candidates, early post-docs) to join the already constituted team on Schools and Education;
- Junior as well as senior scholars to join the team in constitution on Charity/Philanthrop y;
- Junior as well as senior scholars especially working on the Near East for team 3 on gender.
Junior scholars are invited to submit their candidacy through the program's internet site and the subsection "Application" of the group they wish to join.
Senior scholars can directly join the person assuming the coordination for the program at the French School in Athens at tassosa@free. fr
