Conference: Sustainable knowledge-based economies in Central and South East Europe

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

we herewith kindly invite you to participate in the International Conference "Contribution of Research and Technology Development (RTD) to developing
sustainable knowledge-based economies in Central and South East Europe" - www.investsciencesee.info, which will be held from 22nd-23rd of May 2009 at
University of Dubrovnik in Dubrovnik/Croatia.

The conference aims at contributing to a better understanding of the role of Research and Technology Organisations in the development of sustainable knowledge-based economies in Central and South East Europe in line with EU Lisbon Strategy with a special focus on the challenge of strengthening the links between science and industry.

The insights and personal encounters of the conference shall feed into improved S&T strategies and governance structures on regional, national and organizational levels and to enhanced regional cooperation among Central and South East European countries as well as with EU Member States and relevant international organisations such as RCC, EIT, COST etc..

The Conference will bring - based on the input of a wide range of stakeholders - an overview on experience in research and development cooperation between research institutions (with a focus on research and technology organisations (RTOs)) and industry in Central and South East Europe. Particular attention will be given to successful initiatives and show cases that will be presented by the representatives of JOANNEUM RESEARCH (Austria), Jozef Stefan Institute (Slovenia), and Rudjer Boskovic Institute (Croatia).

The meeting will be open to the public.

Austrian Science and Research Liaison Office Ljubljana will cover accommodation costs for a limited number of participants from SEE Countries upon request. (

In the context of association YEAR (networks of young researchers in European research and technology organisations (RTOs), and Industrial Research bodies) young researchers from SEE countries active in the field of science-industry relations from SEE countries will be especially encouraged to participate in the event with ASO Ljubljana covering accommodation costs.
