CfP: Transition through History and Culture, Skopje, 30-31.10.2006

Dear colleagues,

We have a pleasure to invite you to participate on the International Conference "TRANSITION THROUGH HISTORY AND CULTURE", organized by the Institute
of National History (Skopje, Republic of Macedonia) together with the Ethnographic Institute and Museum-BAS (Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria).
The Conference will be held in Skopje, 30-31 October, 2006.
The aim of this Conference is to analyze transitions in history and culture from interdisciplinary aspect. Such approach towards the problem can contribute for better understanding of historical as well as modern transitional processes, which will be reflected in all segments of the culture, history, language, literature and in everyday life of the individual. In that respect we suggest the following topics, but also we are open for all your suggestions related to the transitions:

Transitional periods through history and culture
Modern transitional processes
Cultural transitions throughout history
Language and literature in transitions
Persons/profiles in transitions
Transitions and demographic changes
Transitions and religions
Village-town: migrations
Tradition in transition
Historiography and cultural studies
Personal and collective identity in transitions
Protection of cultural heritage
Transitions in everyday culture/working days and holidays
Gender studies

The Conference will be held 30-31 October 2006.
Languages of presentation: English, Macedonian and other Slavic languages.
The organizers do not cover the participant's travel and accommodation expenses.
