This studentship is only open to UK nationals and those of equivalent status* (fees paid, plus GBP 12600 per annum stipend) or EU Nationals (fees only, no stipend) due to funding restrictions. The position is commence at a mutually convenient date after 1st October 2008 and will last for 3 years. The successful applicant should possess a good degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
The studentship is in the group of Dr Andrew Dove at the University of Warwick (group webpage: http://go.warwick.ac.uk/dovegroup) and will focus on the synthesis and self-assembly of stereoregular block copolymers. You will undertake the synthesis of a range of block copolymers by ring-opening polymerization and controlled radical polymerization methodologies such as RAFT to obtain stereoregular polymers. The effect of both the composition and stereochemistry of the polymers on their ability to selectively self-assemble will be studied.
