CNRS Research Center at University Jean Monnet of Saint-Etienne (France) invites applications for a 3 years PhD Studentship in the areas of geolocation and annotation of photographs in order to describe visible space. The objective is to construct a relationship between vast collections of photographs and Geographical Information databases through various techniques (ray-tracing, perspective
projection…).
The candidate must have programming skills. A good knowledge in GIS and Geomatics will also be an asset. Person must have obtained his Master Degree in year 2007-2008.
The Research center is located at the University of Saint-Etienne. It provides a challenging work environment and full access to state-of-the-art equipment. The PhD will be supervised by both a computer science and a GIS specialist and integrated in a multidisciplinary team.
The amount of the grant will be of 1750 € per month.
