PhD program, The Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies history

Call for Ph.D. Applications

The Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University, Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. seeks applications to its doctoral program in Holocaust History and Genocide Studies. The Center is a forum for education and scholarship about the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide, and other genocides around the world. Dedicated to teaching, research, and public service, the Center trains the Holocaust historians and genocide studies scholars of the future--the next cadre of professors, teachers, Holocaust museum directors and curators, and non-governmental organization and government agency experts-about genocide and genocidal situations. Applications from any country are welcome.

We also seek applications to the interdisciplinary Ph.D. stream in Psychology of Genocide offered by the Strassler Center and Clark's Psychology Department. Ideally, candidates for the Psychology of Genocide stream will have master's level (or equivalent) university education with basic background in psychology and demonstrated interest in the social and cultural studies of genocide, fluency in two languages in addition to English, and sufficient background in mathematics and sciences to deal with statistical methods.

The financial package we offer includes full tuition of $34,900, a fellowship package of $15,000 per year, and a yearly research bursary of $5,000. These terms hold throughout the five years of the Ph.D. program.

Deadline for applications is January 15, 2010. Please learn more about our
