Encouraged by Cross-National Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program (CONSIRT) www.crossnationalstudies.org, we are in the process of preparing a proposal for a special issue of the International Journal of Sociology pertaining to sociology in Turkey. We would like to inquire whether you would be interested in submitting an article for consideration in this special issue.

Sociology by Turkish scholars does not have a strong international presence, especially among English speaking scholars. The International Journal of Sociology is an English language, peer reviewed journal that appears in universities around the world. In that issue of International Journal of Sociology, we aim to bring together articles which are based on ethno-class theme. Considering ethnic and class/stratificatio n transformation in last two decades in Turkey, our scope is to prepare an issue analyzing the reflections and effects of the transformation on various social structures. For this purpose, we invite contributors to submit your researches articles in (major field) sociology. The topics on urban studies, gender, labor, migration, ethnicity, etc. are welcomed.

Considering deadline constraints, we are hoping that you have an applicable paper that is in progress or that is far enough along so as to meet a August, 30 2010 deadline for a publishable draft of the paper. Deadlines are set according to the necessary steps of preparing a proposal for an IJS special issue: we need abstracts for the issue and we need a publishable draft of the paper for preliminary approval by the Editorial Board. We respectfully request that you respond by May, 1 2010 indicating your interest. Interested contributors are asked to send a one page abstract (in English) via email by May, 15 2010.
