PhD positions in Computing at Chosun University, Korea

PhD Research Assistantship in the Embedded Computing Area at the Computer Systems Lab, Chosun University, Gwangju, Republic of Korea

The Computer Systems Lab (CSLab) is seeking for skillful, hard working and highly motivated candidates with good credentials to join our dynamic international team as PhD students within the area of embedded computing systems.

The PhD positions are targeted at the following research topics:

Configurable Computing
Embedded Computing
Bio-Inspired Computing
Lab-in-a-Box Systems
Virtual Instrumentation

Promising candidates will be recommended for the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Foreign Students.? Listed below are some features of this PhD research assistantship and the expected benefits of the program for successful applicants:


Tuition fees for study period
A round-trip economy class ticket to and from Korea
Monthly Allowance of 900,000 won(KRW)
Basic Medical Insurance

Extra allowances based on research performance
Duration: Direct PhD- 4years, Integrated MSc & PhD- 5years (these include Korean language training for cultural exchange and to assist students properly integrate while in Korea.? However, lectures and research activity will be in English language)
Expected commencement date: Sep 2010 or March 2011

Profile of Ideal Candidates

MSc, preferably in Computer Engineering or related areas (good BSc for those applying for the integrated MSc-PhD program)
Good background in embedded systems
Good programming skills
Good English language skills- written and oral
Good ability to cooperate with others in a multicultural environment
Good ability for highly motivated independent research

3) Brief summary of most recent thesis and the status (eg accepted, in progress, submitted, etc)
4) CV (to include names, date of birth, nationality, sex, contact details, education, work experience, publications)
