Post-doctoral Fellow at The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM)

Description:
The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) currently has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral fellow to conduct research in the area of biomaterials for the development of functional ovarian tissue. This ambitious project seeks to apply cell encapsulation techniques to achieve appropriate structure-function relationships of cells within an ovarian follicle created ex vivo for hormone and egg production.

The Wake Forest University School of Medicine is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and is a premier clinical and basic science research university. The WFIRM has the mission of improving patient care through the development and dissemination of novel clinical therapies for the functional repair and replacement of diseased tissues and organs. The successful candidate will have full access to the 25,000 square feet of laboratory space, state-of-the- art equipment and facilities, and a 33,000 square foot vivarium present at the WFIRM.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree (e.g., D.V.M.) in a field of study related to biomedical science. These may include but are not limited to biomedical engineering, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and zoology. The ideal candidate will posses training in the areas of biomaterials, immunochemistry, flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA, cell isolation and culture, and the use of animal models. Candidates must have a strong interest in translational research and preclinical development. Strong communication skills will be required due to the multi-disciplinary environment of WFIRM, and demonstrated excellence in presentation and publication of scientific results are especially sought.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
