Robert Bosch Fellowships at the Institute for Human Sciences
The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) awards research fellowships for the academic year 2008/09. The program, which is generously supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation, is focused on South-Eastern Europe.
1. Conditions
Robert Bosch Fellowships will enable junior and senior scholars to spend six months at the IWM in Vienna to pursue their research project while working in residence at the institute. The fellows will receive a stipend to cover all expenses related to the stay in Vienna (travel, apartment, health insurance, incidentals) . The IWM will provide the fellows with a personal office with PC, access to internet and e-mail,
in-house research and administrative facilities. Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend in the amount of € 25.000 for the six-month term. Junior Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend of € 10.000 for six months. The 6-months research term must be completed between 1 July 2008 and 30 June 2009.
Robert Bosch Fellows will be members of the international and multidisciplinary scholarly community at the IWM. They are invited to present and discuss their project in lectures or seminars.
2. Eligibility
The IWM is accepting applications from countries of ex-communist South-Eastern Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia.
Applications are accepted from researchers who
* are citizens or permanently reside in one of the aboveÂmentioned countries,
* or are affiliated to a university or research institution in the region,
* or (independent of the appliÂcant’s country of origin) who pursue research on South-Eastern Europe
Visiting Fellows must have obtained a Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences and must hold a senior academic or research position, at least Associate Professor level or equivalent.
Junior Visiting Fellows must currently pursue their doctoral degree or have recently obtained a Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences.
The research project of the candidate should be related to one of the IWM’s main research fields.
3. Application

For Junior Fellows only:
4. two letters of reference from scholars familiar with the academic work of the applicant
Deadline for applications is April 14, 2008.
Applicants will be given notice of the decision in May 2008.
