CfP: New forms of human rights and civic engagement in the 21st century

Dear friends,

We (Association of the Sociology Students at Sofia University - ASSSU) are extremely happy to invite you to participate at ESSA Spring School 2008:

"New forms of human rights and civic engagement in the 21st century". The school takes place in Sofia, Bulgaria between May 9th - May 12th, 2008 and will be followed by an ESSA General Assembly on May 13th. 5 lecturers, coming from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Holland and Germany, will, each in their own workshop and from their own standpoint, address the issues concerning the theme. In the attachment you can find the official announcement and the application form. We are kindly asking everyone interested to fill in the application form and send it to the following e-mail address essa.sofia.2008@ gmail.com . Please note that the application deadline is April 14th 2008. Successful candidates will be notified by April 20th via e-mail. When applying, everybody is required to submit a short essay (2-5 pages) on the position of the human rights and civic engagement.

The working language for the spring school and the assembly, as well as for the essays, will be English.

Both accommodation and food expenses will be fully covered by the organizers. Travel expenses will be fully covered by the organizers, provided that you use second class train ticket or another cheap way of traveling (please inform us) and bring all your original travel receipts and tickets. Participation fee: none

We are also asking you to distribute the official announcement (in attachment) to everyone possibly interested in it and also to print and put it on the announcement boards of your faculties. Because we are not sure that all the clubs are included in the ESSA Yahoo Group we would like to ask you to forward this information especially to the clubs from Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania and of course everyone else.
Please check if you're required a visa for entering Bulgaria notify us as soon as possible and describe us the exact conditions.
