USA: Webcast on Science Studies

Join Professor Timothy J. DeVoogd and EducationUSA on December 11th, 2008 for a webcast on science studies in the United States!

Dr. DeVoogd will be answering students' questions on a range of topics, including admissions requirements, course loads, opportunities for graduate study, typical course content, and differences between research and liberal arts institutions. Students are encouraged to submit questions in advance by email to webcast@state. gov.

The webcast may be viewed at www.cpcwebcast. com/state.

Dr. DeVoogd is a professor at Cornell University and holds a Ph.D. in biological psychology from the University of Illinois. For much of his career he has studied neuroanatomical effects of learning, looking at neural consequences of song learning and spatial learning in songbirds. He has worked with scientists and students in more than a dozen countries, both at Cornell and during sabbaticals at Oxford, the University of Cape Town, and the National University of Singapore. Partly as a result of these experiences, he has become interested in scientific exchange as a vehicle for understanding.

The webcast will be a Q&A format, and students will need to submit their questions in advance by email to webcast@state. gov. The video will be posted online for downloading: www.cpcwebcast. com/state.

We hope for a great turn-out and welcome your questions and feedback!
