CfA: Managing Conflicts and Urban Development in Multiethnic Communities: International Training for Policymakers

The Managing Multiethnic Communities Program (MMCP) of the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute (OSI) - Budapest, Hungary announces a call for applications for a six-day introductory training on ethnic diversity and urban development.

Venue: Budapest, Hungary
Dates: May 18-23, 2009

Trainers: Katalin Pallai and Ana Vasilache

Eligibility:
* Public policymakers and public managers from local or national governments
* Policy advisors, consultants, urban planners, and project managers working on EU-funded projects from national or international organizations
* Trainers of local governments and faculty staff from public administration and public policy higher education

This training will present recent thinking and practice in addressing social/economic inequalities and participatory planning and constructive conflict management tools. It will combine personal and institutional approaches and will build participants' knowledge and skills as needed to manage effectively multiethnic communities. The workshop is based on participatory and experiential learning methods and makes use of real life case studies.

The working language for this training is English.
