Ph.D. Research Fellow in Materials Chemistry - University of Oslo, Norway

A position as Ph.D. Research Fellow (stipendiat) is available at the Department of Chemistry, University of Oslo (http://www.kjemi.uio.no/), Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology (http://www.smn.uio.no/), in materials chemistry associated with the research project “Materials for 3D battery structures”. The position is for three years.

Project description

“Materials for 3D battery structures” is a three-year project financed by the Research Council of Norway (http://www.forskningsradet.no) and University of Oslo and is part of the RENERGI program.

The focus of the current project is in developing three-dimensional (3D) all-solid-state lithium ion batteries. The project will involve development of thin film deposition processes for electrode, electrolyte and barrier layer materials using atomic layer deposition (ALD) technique, analysis of the battery structures, and development of novel 3D battery concepts. The successful candidate will be part of the present subgroup on battery materials which counts 2 PhD students, 3 post docs, and two researchers. The appointment is under condition that the contract between the partners is signed.

Requirements

The applicants should document competence in inorganic chemistry. Experience from working with battery related materials or thin film depositions using ALD is desirable.

Applicants must have obtained qualification equivalent with master level. This should represent approximately five years of full time university studies after the completion of European Upper Secondary School / International Baccalaureate.

The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a doctoral degree, and the appointment is conditional upon admission to the research training program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
