Post-Doc: Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the area of high performance hard disk servo control. The objective of the research is to (1) Study the effects of plant properties such as minimum phase (MP), in-phase (IP) and positive realness (PR) on servo performance (e.g. servo bandwidth, vibration attenuation); (2) Investigate mechanical structure in relation to required plant properties for high servo performance; (3) Develop effective control methodologies for disturbance rejection, particularly for high frequency disturbances; (4) Develop an integrative approach to joint mechanical structure and control design for optimal performance.

Expertise in dynamic modeling and control is essential. Some background in measurement and signal processing and experience in high performance positioning
systems are desired. The candidates are expected to have a strong interest in
advanced control system design for hard disk drives.

Send applications (cover letter, CV, contact information for three references,
a PDF file of your best relevant paper) to Professor Lihua Xie via email
