VELKA BRITANIE: PhD Scholarship in Nursing and Social Work

Postgraduate Research Studentships in Nursing and Social Work Manchester, UK

We are pleased to announce studentships for study towards a PhD commencing
September 2006, as described below.

These awards are to support our areas of research strength, and applicants with interests in the following areas are invited to apply:

* Management of Chronic Diseases
* Mental Health
* Cancer and Supportive and Palliative Care
* Child and Family Health and Social Care

PhD Scholarships

These scholarships are intended to support nurses and social workers with < 6 years since graduation with a first degree; minimum of 2:1 or equivalent. Support would include individual stipends of up to £15K plus tuition fees for 3 years. Up to 6 PhD scholarships will be funded.

Distributed Learning Scholars

These awards are intended to support home, European Union and International students interested in PhD study through the School’s distributed learning method. The awards include waiver of Home/EU tuition fees at part-time level for 6 years or full-time level for 3 years, and a total of up to £3K for travel (intensive study weeks at Manchester) and research support. Up to 4 of these awards will be funded.

The awards are open to applicants from anywhere in the world, but only Home/EU tuition fees will be available. Applicants should hold (or expect to hold) a good Upper Second or First Class degree in nursing/social work or a related subject e.g. social science or other relevant discipline (or equivalent); or a masters level degree or sufficient professional experience and research experience to compensate.

Closing Date: 16 June 2006
