CfA: Trainers, Multicultural Cooperation in Education – a Road to Europe

Call for Trainers

CRS Serbia is looking for accredited organizations or free-lancers to submit their bids to conduct training sessions for teachers/professors and pupils/students of two primary and two secondary schools in Bujanovac. Bidders, qualified organizations and/or individuals, are invited to submit bids for delivering individual module/s or set of modules listed below, depending on their expertise and interests.

With the support from British Embassy and the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Catholic Relief Services in Serbia (CRS) and its implementing partner, CRC-Bujanovac, have started to implement the project: € ’³Multicultural Cooperation in Education € ’¶ a Road to Europe€ ’´ in Bujanovac.

The purpose of € ’³Multicultural Cooperation in Education € ’¶ a Road to Europe€ ’´ Project is to improve multi-ethnic interaction and ethnic tolerance among youth from different ethnicities in Bujanovac and to strengthen community engagement in education. This will be performed through capacity development and revitalization of multi-ethnic Youth and Parents€ ’² Councils, through revitalization of Youth Intercultural Club and through enhancement of professors€ ’² and teachers€ ’² as well as students€ ’² and pupils€ ’² skills to organize extracurricular activities which will be the catalyst of multiethnic cooperation among the Albanian, Serb and Roma populations in Southern Serbia (Bujanovac).

A tailor-made training program should provide the following outputs:
€ ’µ Increased skills and capacity of teachers/professors to: organize extracurricular activities for multi-ethnic youth groups, to facilitate Parent Council meetings and to build partnership with parents and the local community.
€ ’µ Increased skills of multi-ethnic groups of students to organize and facilitate group work and to engage in multiethnic activities.
€ ’µ Increased understanding of youth and teachers of the EU integration, diversity principles and multiethnic cooperation models.
€ ’µ Increased cooperation between Parents€ ’² and Youth Councils and the local government on developing and implementing decisions that impact youth in the municipality (for example through advocacy and lobbying plan and activities).
€ ’µ Each training should provide sufficient knowledge and skills to trainees and enable them to develop individual or group action plan to work with the local community and/or their peers and to immediately implement skills learnt.
€ ’µ Some online and/or off-line post-training mentoring and assistance is highly recommended and applicants are encouraged to express their interest and fees for this activity.

Requirements for applying individuals or organizations:
o Proven track record in successful delivery of trainings on relevant topic(s) to primary and/or secondary school pupils and teachers/professors .
o Approval or Accreditation of the Republic of Serbia Ministry of Education or relevant international institution or organization.
o Gender-balanced Training Team preferred
o Multi-ethnic Training Team including Serbian, Albanian and Roma trainers, highly recommended if possible.
o Multicultural sensitivity
o Readiness to travel and deliver training in Bujanovac or surrounding area.
o Proficiency in English for reporting purposes.

Handouts requirements:
1. Training delivery should include provision of multiethnic groups of trainees (teachers and students) with sufficient and quality tools (handbooks, resources, handouts etc.) which trainees will be able to use to successfully organize extracurricular activities for pupils, Youth and Parent Councils etc. in the course of the next school year.
2. All handouts, textbooks, and other training materials must be produced in sufficient number of copies in all three working languages (Serbia, Roma and Albanian) and bidding organization/ s or individuals should include the costs of translations for these materials in their bid. Upon request, CRS Serbia can assist and/or recommend interpreters for Albanian and Roma languages.
3. Total number of trainees will not exceed 25 persons per session, maximum.

Reporting requirements:
The selected organization or team of trainers will be required to submit a final report in all three mentioned languages, as well as in English translation. The training report should include analysis of training evaluation forms and the main proposals, action plans, and conclusions drawn by trainees.

Equipment: CRS Serbia posses lap top computer, video beam and flip chart paper/holders and € ’¶ there are no needs to charge equipment costs though it can be counted the in-kind contribution of the applicant/s.

* CRS Serbia reserves the right to change or combine modules into 2-3 days session upon reasonable recommendations based on the experience of applicant(s)
To apply, please submit:
1. Application Letter briefly summarising the proposed staffing of Training Team and/or Organizational capacity and experience, as per the above mentioned requirements.
2. Very brief proposal for the agenda and topics on the modules you are applying for (based on your previous experience and recommendations)
3. Budget proposal as per the attached template for multiethnic groups of 20-25 trainees.
4. Proposed training delivery schedule and availability (starting from 18 June) as included in the budget template.

Please submit your bid/s by e-mail no later then COB on Friday, 15 June 2007, to: serbia@eme.crs. org with reference: Call for Trainers € ’¶ CRC Bujanovac (please state the number of the training module you are bidding for, whether or not you are bidding for multiple modules).

Travel requirements:
Trainings are expected to be delivered in or near Bujanovac. The final decision on the venue will be made by CRS Serbia and in coordination with its Project Implementing Partner, CRC€ ’¶Bujanovac. All training logistics will be organized by CRS Serbia implementing partner CRC-Bujanovac. Bidders should estimate their travel costs to Belgrade or include costs of travel to/from Bujanovac.
