Energy in the Western Balkans - The Path of Development
(from negative trends to positive developments)
The past two decades have been years of political and economic turmoil for the countries of the Western Balkans, which has had long-lasting implications on the development of their energy sectors. Nowadays, faced with many challenges like: the EU integration process, economic growth, environmental protection and sustainable development the countries of the Western Balkans have elevated the energy issues high on their policy agenda. What has been achieved so far; how big is the energy potential of the region; and what are the perspectives for development of
sustainable energy sector and a regional energy market - are only few of the issues which concern the decision-makers, the energy experts and the consumers/citizens. Drawing from the experience of different countries, we encourage research papers that will set ground-breaking recommendations for a sustainable development of the energy sector in the countries of the Western Balkans.
Whilst, our aim is to represent a wide spectrum of disciplines and approaches, we strongly encourage comparative and multi-disciplinary perspectives, and welcome proposals using new research methodologies. We invite submission of original research papers including but not limited to the following themes:
