PhD Scholarship in Environmental Stress, Syddansk Universitet, Denmark

A PhD scholarship is available at the Environmental Stress Research Group, Institute of Biology, University of Southern Denmark. The project will focus on identification, expression and functional dynamics of aquaporins in osmoregulatory epithelia in fish. The scholarship is an integrated part of the project “Molecular and cellular aspects of ion and water transport across osmoregulatory epithelia in fish” granted by the Danish Council for Independent Research | Natural Sciences.

The successful student should have a good theoretical and experimental background in zoophysiology and molecular biology/biochemistry. The project involves periods of field work combined with laboratory experiments. The student is expected to collaborate with other PhD students, post docs and senior scientists working on related projects.

Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement of 1 October 2008 on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

The successful candidate will be enrolled at this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
