Do you think that the transition in most of the Western Balkans countries is getting too long and you have your own ideas and or opinions which might be the reasons that these countries are not being able to build a democratic and functional state as well as some ways to change this reality?
Do you think that social capital is one of the key elements for the good functioning of a democratic society?
If you would like to discuss and exchange this ideas with known speakers, public personalities and colleagues from Albania and the region?

“Making democracy work where transition seems to fail; challenges and perspectives for the Western Balkans”
which will take place on October 23-28, 2011 at the European University of Tirana,
and marks the 10th anniversary of the Leadership Programme
started by KRIIK Albania and the Coalition for Leadership
Eligible candidates are individuals engaged in nongovernmental organizations, media, political parties, public administration or students interested in social and politic development.
Will be advantaged candidates who hold a leading position in the organizations they represent and representatives of minorities.
Applicants must be from: Albania , Bosnia-Herzegovina , Bulgaria , Kosovo , Macedonia , Montenegro , Poland , Romania , Serbia and Turkey .
Working languages of the activity will Albanian and English.
Note! You might apply to follow the whole activity or one or more topics in the agenda according to your specific interests.
The Program is built on speeches from well known lecturers and on working groups.
Discussion and results of workshops, processed by speakers and facilitators in cooperation with collaborators of the Leadership Programme and local partners in participant countries, will form a Document of recommendations and best practices elaborated by participants and regarding challenges posed by politicization of civil society, erosion and transformation of social capital, role of the media, inclusion of vulnerable groups in decision making, etc., in countries of the Western Balkans and the wider region. At the end of the activity, the participants will be provided a Participation Certificate and will be mentioned as collaborators in the Final Document that will be prepared.
All individuals who participated in activities of the Leadership Program during these 10 years can apply.
