F12200 - Computer & Information Services The SECuRE and Trustworthy Computing Lab (SECRETLab) at the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to be filled as soon as possible. The CIS department has strengths in compute security, data mining, natural language processing, graphics, and high performance and distributed computing. This position is funded by a grant from the Department of Homeland Security. Position duties and responsibilities: Area of primary interest is computer security and mobile devices. Experience with Database forensics and Database audits are optional. Research and development activities at the initial stage will include the development of a secure location provenance system on smart phones along with development and analysis of security protocols. Term: The initial term of appointment is for 1 year, with the expectation of renewal based on performance. Qualifications: An earned doctorate in computer science/Information Technology, or very closely related discipline; a strong research background in computer security and privacy, mobile computing; experience in development and analysis of security protocols; experience in developing database and client-server applications and mobile applications, knowledge of programming languages (Java, C/C++, and/or Python); strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and participate in ongoing departmental programs.
