"FP7 - Research in the field of biotechnology, agriculture, food, fishery and forestry - a cooperation between EU, Balkan region and Eastern European neighborhood area" which will be held in Bucharest on the
25th-26th of January 2007
During this two - days Conference the European Commission, DG RTD, will explain into more detail the structure and content of the forthcoming 7th Framework Program for Research (FP7), focus on the research topics of the first calls of 2nd theme 'Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology" , on the horizontal activities of this theme and on the new rules of participations.
With a great diversity into agricultural research, DG JRC will present the scientific support for the relevant activities into this area.
The more relevant European Technological Platforms in the field are expecting to present theirs Strategic Agendas, the needs of the national consultations and the role of industry in research.
European Food Safety Authority will present to its role, the link with research, and the possibilities for cooperation with the countries from the region.
European Investment Bank is expecting to give information on the new founding facilities for supporting EU's efforts in research, development and innovation.
Bringing together scientists, experts from industry and private sector and other stakeholders, in order to exploit new and emerging research opportunities that address social, economic and environmental challenges in food, agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, and fisheries, including biotechnological aspects will give to possibility for the participants to jointly identify areas of mutual interest and complementarities between the European Union, Balkan Region and Eastern European neighborhood area.
The event will provide a timely forum for discussing and highlighting opportunities, specific themes of interest to be jointly developed in view of potential co-operation within FP7.
The location of the Conference is at a prestigious place, the Romanian Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world
