MSc scholarships in Forestry

Please find below the information on the MSc European Forestry Erasmus Mundus, as well as the details of the current call for student applications (deadline 31 December 2006) and the scholarships available. We kindly ask you to forward this information to anyone you consider might be interested.

The MSc EF is a 2-year double degree programme co-organised by the following six European Universities:

- University of Joensuu, Finland (Coordinating University)

- Albert-Ludwig University of Freiburg, Germany

- Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Sweden

- University of Lleida (UdL), Spain

- University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU), Austria

- Wageningen University, The Netherlands

Since the start of the programme in 2002, the MSc EF provides academic education in forestry focusing on the international dimension of sustainable forest management issues. The programme is an extra dimension to the already existing educational markets in forestry and nature management in Europe. In this programme, European
forestry universities collaborate intensively to offer joint courses as well as their existing curricula, based on the knowledge and experience of forest management for which European Forestry was the cradle centuries ago.

The international dimension of the programme is strengthened by the Partnership established with the Universities of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa, Federal University of Parana in Brazil and Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University in China.

The MSc EF programme is open to students and professionals from all countries. Minimum requirements for studying the MSc EF include a good level of English, and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in forestry or other related disciplines.

The next MSc EF 2007-2009 Course will start in autumn 2007. Deadline for applications is 31st December 2006. Find more information as well as the application procedure on the webpage http://gis.joensuu. fi/mscef . There you can also find details on the Erasmus Mundus scholarships that are provided for non-European Union
nationals (24 scholarships, each of 42,000 EUR, corresponding to 21,000 EUR per year), as well as the various scholarships schemes available for EU nationals (including 10 scholarships of 3,100 EUR each, for 3-month study period at our Partner Universities in South Africa, Brazil and China).
