of Psychology
This PhD will be based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Reading http://www.psycholo gy.rdg.ac. uk , and is funded by the HiQ Foundation in conjunction with the European Huntington's Disease Network.
Huntington's disease is a rare neurodegenerative genetic disorder affecting movement, cognition and behaviour. This project will entail interviewing and working with Huntington's patients, their families and other health professionals towards development of a disease-specific scale which will help determine health-related quality of life in HD. It will enable the impact of the unique symptoms and consequences of this disorder on patients' everyday life to be formally quantified, and will fill a long-standing practical gap in current clinical care and management of this disorder.
