Call for Regional Training: Social Science Survey Related Skills

Do you have experience in social research? Have you always wanted to improve your survey and quantitative research skills? Do you like traveling, meeting new people and gaining international contacts? Are you interested in pursuing further social research, either here or at an international university? Do you want to gain qualifications that increase your chances for working on exciting, well-paid research projects?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then CRRC has the opportunity for you! We are launching a series of four or five regional trainings to be hosted in Tbilisi, Georgia, for researchers in the South Caucasus interested in improving their social science survey related skills. All of the exercises will be based on CRRC Data Initiative data (see our website), making all the exercises relevant to the South Caucasus.

The schedule of trainings is

How to design a questionnaire – February 22-25
Ensuring representativeness: sampling and weighting in the Caucasus – March 14-18
How can we make data useful and accessible: best practice in archiving data – June 6-10

Doing a powerful analysis of results by applying inferential statistics – September 8-12

Trainings will involve prizes for the best participants, online interaction with other participants and teachers and the chance to learn from a variety of international scholars. Trainers are international experts, and the training is free.

Priority will be given to those participants who can commit to the whole cycle of trainings, though places will be reserved for those who can demonstrate a need to attend particular trainings. Excellent participants may be offered part-time work in various CRRC research projects (in 2007, we have done research for UNDP, Danish Refugee Council, the British Embassy, Transparency International, USAID, and others). Participants are also eligible to apply for CRRC Fellowships, to use their skills on their own projects.

If you are interested in participating, please send an email with your CV to Nana at crrc.applications@gmail.com immediately, and certainly no later than by February 5th. Candidates must be proficient in English (ability to read and write fluently, including technical texts) and have demonstrated research experience.

The Caucasus Research Resource Centers program (CRRC) is a network of resource and training centers, established in the capital cities of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia with the goal of strengthening social science research and public policy analysis in the South Caucasus. A partnership between the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Eurasia Partnership Foundation, and local universities, the CRRC network offers scholars and practitioners stable opportunities for integrated research, training and collaboration in the region.
