Internship - Civic Integration Foundation, Tbilisi, Georgia

Internship Description:

Civic Integration Foundation, a non-governmental, non-political and no-profit organization committed for promotion of civic integration, human rights and democracy in Georgia is seeking a full-time intern. Interns are expected to assist Foundation’s staff in implementation various projects on ethnic minorities and also to observe and monitor parliamentary elections in Georgia in May 2008. With internship at CIF interns shall gain unique opportunity to join leading Georgian NGO in the field of civic integration, democracy and minority rights and thus to learn more about democratization in Georgia.

Responsibilities:

To support CIF staff in monitoring pre-election period in Georgia and especially in the geographical areas settled with ethnic minorities;
To engage in Parliamentary elections in Georgia in May 2008 as an observer from Civic Integration Foundation;
To assist implementation of CIF projects and programs designed for integration of ethnic minorities in Georgia;
To maintain field trips in Georgian regions settled with ethnic minorities;
To carry out independent research in the field of minority rights, civil society and democracy building in Georgia.
Requirements:

University students or recent graduates in the field of social sciences and humanities;
An excellent knowledge of English. (Basic knowledge of Russian would be an asset);
Strong interest in the field of democratization and civil society building in South Caucasus.
Duration of Internship:

Duration of internship at Civic Integration Foundation is minimum two and maximum four months. Selected interns are expected to join the foundation by the middle of April 2008.

Remuneration/ Benefits:

Internship at Civic Integration Foundation is unpaid. However, CIF will support to selected candidatures in finding accommodation in Tbilisi and also their travel expenses during the field trips will be covered by the foundation. Interns will also receive letter of reference after completion of their internship at Civic Integration Foundation.
