"Data analysis, forecasting and economic policy design"

April 4 – April 20, 2008, Baku

The International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (www.iset.ge , ISET) invites students in the last year of Bachelors programs and/or beginning their Master's studies to take part in the first ISET Spring School "Data analysis,
forecasting and economic policy design". The School is organized by ISET with funding from the World Bank. Upon completion of the course students will be invited to participate in a project competition carrying prizes of up to 300 USD per each winning project. Working language of the Spring School is English.

The purpose of the Spring School is to acquaint students with advanced techniques to handle and analyze economic data with an emphasis on forecasting and simulation of economic policy. Participants will work with existing macroeconomic data sets (regional, as well as international) , will learn how to design and to evaluate economic policy programs. Classes will be held during three weekends (Friday-Sunday)
from April 4 till April 20. Projects submitted for participation in the prize competition will be evaluated by an international panel of experts.

Upon completion of the Spring School the participants will:

ü Know how to find, understand and analyze macroeconomic data

ü Use advanced statistical tools for study, research, business and policy analysis

ü Improve knowledge of fundamental economics concepts
