On October 16 and 17, 2008, the Netherlands Institute in Turkey (NIT) will host the symposium "Comparing Notes: Current Research on Ottoman History and Literature in the Netherlands and Turkey", featuring presentations by Mehmet Genc, Jan Schmidt, Feridun Emecen, Machiel Kiel, Murat Cizakca, and others.
