Research Doctorate Programs
The Research Doctorate is the highest academic title that can be bestowed in Italy. It is equivalent to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Anglo-Saxon countries. The principal objective of a Research Doctorate Program is to educate graduate students on carrying out pure or applied scientific research, in the ambit of the chosen discipline.
The University of Naples Federico II is a large research university and the oldest state university in the world. Its Research Doctorate Programs aim to train a selected number of young people, endowed with a high quality preparation and having the enjoyment for the research, to a high level of scientific, technical and professional qualification.
The Doctorate Schools of the University promote advanced training in almost all the fields of the knowledge by organizing basic courses of wide and considerable scientific content both with the support of its own professors and with the aid of the Italian and foreign scholars. Specific courses related to the chosen research program are organized by the single Doctorate Courses. The research activities are carried out both in the Departments of the University and in distinguished national and international scientific institutions.
