USA: Scholarships for postgraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering

*About the University of Bridgeport*
The University of Bridgeport (UB) is currently the fastest growing University in the State of Connecticut and in New England.

*Full-Paid Assistantships and Workstudy Opportunities*
The Graduate Studies and Research Division (GSRD) at the University of Bridgeport offers more than 500 Full-Paid Graduate Assistantships, Teaching Assistantships, and Research Assistantships per year for graduate students, in addition to many workstudy opportunities. UB offers excellent post-graduation job placement opportunities, in addition to hundreds of Co-op and internship opportunities, for both domestic and international students, with more than 600 companies, school districts, research laboratories and industries that have employed UB graduates in the last several years.

*UB School of Engineering*
As a unit of the GSRD, UB's School of Engineering (SOE) is the fastest growing School of Engineering in the nation and is home to the largest graduate engineering program in Connecticut with over 1,500 current students; and is home to one of the four largest engineering programs in New England. The School of Engineering' s recent accomplishments in the growth of academic quality, enrollment and research productivity have been frequently cited in academia, the engineering community and the media.

*M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering*
Among its diverse set of programs, the School of Engineering has just started to offer an M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering (BME). The Master's Degree Program in BME is designed to use an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to advance the knowledge of its graduates towards developing an understanding of fundamental issues at the interface of engineering, biology, technology and medicine. This program
prepares scientists and researchers for leadership roles at biomedical engineering and biotechnology dependent organizations, who are skilled in establishing and maintaining superior competitive advantage for their respective enterprises. The M.S. in BME Program is specifically designed to develop inter-disciplinary skills and competencies required for biomedical technology dependent businesses, educational and research institutions, health care and health sciences enterprises. The BME degree facilitates and encourages several inter-disciplinary studies and concentrations within the Engineering, Biology, Basic Sciences, Health Care, Business, and Technology fields.

The Biomedical Engineering degree prepares students for many career choices and allows students to tailor their education options to prepare them for rewarding careers in engineering, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industries, health sciences, health care, clinical practices, medical instrumentation and medical technology. This program emphasizes several areas of research and education in biomaterials, biologically inspired materials, bio-instrumentation , bio-informatics, bio-imaging, tissue engineering and regeneration, physiological measurements, bio-electronics, bio-mechanics, bio-MEMS, wireless communications in cells, bio-sensing, bio-robotics, bio-signaling, ergonomics, medical databases and several associated areas in man-machine interfacing.

*Inter-disciplinary Concentrations *
The University of Bridgeport also offers several inter-disciplinary graduate concentrations that can be incorporated into the BME program or other graduate programs offered by the Colleges of Engineering, Business, Education and Human Resources. Students can elect, in addition to the BME program, to enroll in one or more graduate degrees at the Masters level in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technology Management, MBA, the M.S. in MSIT (Masters of Science in Instructional Technology) program;
or the Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Engineering.
