Upcoming Seminar: New Roads for History Education in Turkey
From 5-7 of June 2009 the first Capacity Building Seminar in the EUROCLIO/Matra Project A Key to Europe: Innovative Metholodogy in Turkish School History will take place in the Kizilcahamam, Turkey (near Ankara). The seminar is entitled New Roads for History Education in Turkey. The Seminar aims to present the project among key historians and history educators from different regions in Turkey; to identify levels of understanding, challenges and application of innovative approaches in Turkish school history; to discuss effectiveness of the changes in the Turkish curriculum for modern history education and start to build participant skills of innovative teaching; to identify goals, challenges and methodological approaches connected to innovative and democratic participation through history education in Turkey and to identify appropriate persons and institutions willing to contribute to the foreseen project outcomes.
Over 90 participants from all regions of Turkey weill be able to share experiences and best-practice examples with International Trainers from the Republic of Macedonia, Malta and the United Kingdom, and Regional Observers from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
