12-18 February 2007, Oeiras - Portugal
Open Source Networking as a chance for social change and community building

How to build-up an open source network and empower, qualify and motivate young volunteers using their individual skills, competences, experiences and potentials.

Context
The idea of "Open Source Youth Networking" is simple and effective.

It is all about global to local youth initiatives; it's about sharing,
it's about building and living a community.

The individual experiences young volunteers make, the knowledge and social competences they gain out of their engagements, the ideas and opinions they develop trough it, these benefits of social involvement are of a unique worth for modern society.

Bring these experiences together, bring young volunteers together, pooling competences, bringing knowledge from national and international level together enables a dialog, which is profitable and valuable for all participants and can open new perspectives for a future oriented development of the voluntary culture.

The "Open Source Youth Networking" seminar aims at establishing a network with and through young volunteers. The network would be based on one side on the permanent exchange of ideas and the transfer of knowledge on the web, and on the other side the network should be based on real-life actions and cooperation between the network members.

The objectives of this 6-day training course are community-building, communication, knowledge-transfer methods and the set up of a project group for the first half of 2007 including the participants of this training.

The participants are required to join the development process afterwards and work proactively on the further development of Open Source Youth Network idea.
