European Conference on role and function of music in non-formal youth

Music is one of the most important things youth use in their leisure time. So its not a miracle that music is quite important in peer-group-orientat ion. Also music is a central phenomenon in describing of milieus via aesthetic preferences.

How is european non-formal youth education reacting? What similarities and/or differences are in target focussing, method choice and quality management? How important is the religious or secular context of non-formal youth education? What kind of work drafts exists in urban and rural areas? What means that for the church communities in their function of music teaching points? Is music therefore a main part in the non-formal youth education process or just a part of leisure activities?

The first European Conference on role and function of music in non-formal youth education is looking for answers on these questions for the present times. The conference will be held to sharpened the function of non-formal youth education in music between political education, social inclusion and potential of youth participation. A special focus is on the participation of youth leaders/teachers from
religious institutions. The conference will be implement panels and workshops. We will work on european models on non-formal music youth education as a part of intercultural learning. The conference will be organised by the federal association of cultural education in the protestant youth section (bka).

Frame of conference: Action 5 EU Youth programme
We will apply at 1st february 2007
Target group: multipliers in non-formal youth education, teachers, youth leaders from EU contries The conference will take place in Leipzig/Germany from 1st to 5th
