Two postdoctoral research positions are available at the Centre of Atmospheric and Instrumentation Research (CAIR). This is an ideal opportunity for enthusiastic and self-motivated scientists to contribute to research programmes on mesoscale modelling and on air quality and health. You will work as part of the Atmospheric Dynamics and Air Quality team at CAIR.

*Atmospheric Dynamics/Air Quality Modeller and Coordinator of the NERC Knowledge Transfer Network on Mesoscale Modelling (MESO-NET) (Reference: EN6279)*

You must have a good first degree in physical, meteorological or computational sciences and a PhD degree in an appropriate topic. Experience of using advanced numerical models for research into one or more of the following areas will be a distinct advantage: urban/regional air quality, aerosol transport and transformation processes and/or air quality-climate interaction. This is a three-year full-time position in the first instance with a possibility of extension at the end of the contract period.

*Characterisation and Source Apportionment of Air Pollutants (Reference: EN6280) *

You must have a good first degree in physical or chemical sciences and a PhD degree in an appropriate topic. Experience in at least one of the following areas would be an advantage: chemical characterisation of pollutants associated with particles, statistical methods for source apportionment and health impacts of air quality including personal exposure to air pollutants. This is a two-year full-time position in the first instance with a possibility of extension at the end of the contract period.

For both posts you will contribute to national and international programmes of research underway at CAIR. It is important that you have excellent communications skills in English and a strong interest in developing your research work as part of the CAIR activities.
