PhD Fellowship in the area of Experimental Quantum Optics

The Austrian Academy of Sciences is currently offering a PhD Fellowship in the area of Experimental Quantum Optics. The Fellowship is financed by the EC through a Marie Curie Research-Training Network EMALI - Engineering, Manipulation and Characterization of Quantum States of Matter and Light.

The EMALI RTN involves 13 leading European groups (from 10 EU and associated countries) active in the broader field of Experimental and Theoretical AMO Physics and Quantum Optics. As such, the prospective Early-Stage Researcher (PhD Student) will be exposed to a unique research and training environment with excellent opportunities, which will, among many other activities, involve active participation in the network-wide workshops, International Conferences, as well as yearly visits to partner groups.

Competitive salary, as well as travel, mobility and carrier development allowances are defined by the terms of the MC-RT Networks http://ec.europa.eu/research/fp6/mariecurie-actions/action/training_en.html

Research involves the generation and manipulation of multi-photon entangled states for future optical quantum computer und quantum communication. The project will use micro-structured optics in order to improve efficiency and scalability of current schemes.

Conditions for recruitment:
The candidate should preferably be a national of EU Member or Associated States, excluding Austria. At the date of appointment, she/he should not have resided or worked in Austria for more than 12 months in the last 3 years. Some prior experience in micro-optics and/or non-linear optics is advantageous but not mandatory.

Interested candidates should send their application together with the usual attachments (CV, copies of degrees, research interests, list of publications) to
