University Research Studentships: £13,500 per annum plus fees

City is offering a number of three-year, full-time doctoral research studentships, available to both home and overseas fee-paying students on a University-wide competitive basis. In 2008-09 these will attract a bursary of £13,500 per annum in addition to payment of the tuition fees. Successful candidates will usually be expected to undertake some teaching support activity in their second and third years, by agreement with the School concerned.

Overseas Research Students (ORS) Award Scheme
City is also offering a number of ORS awards for high quality full-time overseas research students, to meet the difference between the home and overseas tuition fee rates. Eligible candidates may apply for both University and/or School studentships and an ORS award.

Candidates may apply for a research studentship in any of the following areas:

Communication Disabilities in Children and Adults; Vision Sciences and Optometry: Basic Applied and Clinical Research; Computational and Experimental Physics for Radiotherapy; Stakeholder (Service User, Principal Carer and Practitioner) Perspectives on Health and Healthcare; Education for Healthcare Practice; Development of Healthcare Practice, Management and Policy including Food Policy.

In addition a three-year doctoral bursary of approximately £13,000 plus expenses is available for candidates in fields relating to Nursing and Midwifery. Applicants for this bursary will be considered in parallel and to the same deadline as for University studentships.
