USA: Hauser Global Scholarship and Singapura Scholarship for LL.M. at NYU

The Hauser Global Scholarship and the Singapura Scholarship are the most prestigious honors awarded to exceptional LL.M. students. These merit scholarships provide* full tuition and reasonable living expenses* *including rent and the cost of textbooks and other study materials*.

Hauser Global Scholarships are for those students who will study in New York City, and the Singapura Scholarships are for those students who will enroll in NYU@NUS. Singapura Scholarships are awarded only to students pursuing the dual-degree program; the scholarship encompasses tuition for both the NYU and the NUS LL.M. degrees. Singapura Scholars who choose to study at NUS beyond February will be granted an additional stipend.

The Hauser Global Scholars and the Singapura Scholars reflect the breadth, diversity and achievement of NYU School of Law's Graduate Division student body. Scholars are chosen on the basis of their intellectual and leadership ability and their capacity to participate productively in a global community of scholars and practitioners.
Selections are made on the basis of outstanding academic merit without regard to financial need.

Hauser Global Scholar candidates must be graduates of a law school outside of the United States. U.S. citizens and permanent residents are not eligible. The Singapura Scholarship is available to all applicants, irrespective of citizenship and location of prior legal study.

Applicants should apply to the Hauser Global Scholarship or the Singapura Scholarship only if NYU is their first choice. We understand that you may be interested in and may be applying to many different law schools. However, these elite scholarships are intended for those who know definitively that NYU's unique global approach is what they seek in graduate legal education. Therefore, you should apply for these scholarships only if you are certain that, should you receive the
scholarship for which you apply, you will definitely enroll. Please note that you will be required to withdraw all other pending applications in order to enroll with NYU. We hope you will understand that we want to give preference to those whose preference is us.

In addition to completing the application for admission to the LL.M. program (including a personal statement), candidates must submit the following three essays:

1. Briefly describe a current legal dilemma, controversy, or issue facing a country, a region, or the world and suggest a strategy you would use to address the problem (500 words);
2. Describe the most gratifying experience in your legal education and career (250 words);
3. List two ways you would expect to contribute to NYU School of Law as a Hauser Global Scholar or a Singapura Scholar.

Please attach electronically your essays to your online application. Those who are selected for a Hauser or Singapura Scholarship will receive notification with their offer of admission. Candidates who are not awarded Hauser or Singapura Scholarships will automatically be reviewed for Grotius, Vanderbilt, Marshall, and Mallal Scholarships.
