JOB: Assoc. Prof. in Comparative Politics, Univ of Bergen, Norway

A position as Associate Professor in Comparative Politics is open at the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen. The Department’s academic activities are organized in four research groups:

- European Politics
- Welfare and Democracy
- Comparative Democratization
- Research Methods

The successful applicant is expected to be part of and contribute to the research and academic community in one (or more) of these research groups. The position of Associate Professor at the Department of Comparative Politics includes in addition to research, teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and graduate level, and participation in the Department’s research activities.

In order to assess the qualifications of the applicants the candidates deemed most qualified based on an assessment of their application will be invited to Bergen for a trial lecture and interview with members of the Department. The successful applicant must have a doctorate in comparative politics or corresponding qualifications. Applicants must document ability to publish in the field of comparative politics in internationally recognised publications.

The teaching languages are Norwegian and English.

Basic teaching training is a requirement. The appointee to this position will be offered appropriate pedagogical training if this requirement has not been met previous to appointment.

Salary for associate professors starts at level 57 (code 1011/LR24.1) of the civil service pay scale; currently NOK 438.700 gross, from which 2% amount an obligatory pension contribution will be deducted. In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered.
