A two-year research and teaching appointment in Indo-Iranian Philology from October 2010 for an outstanding academic at an early stage of his or her career. This post is a joint appointment between the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics. The postholder will be a Research Fellow of Wolfson College, and it is envisaged that the postholder will undertake teaching for both faculties.
The fellowship is funded jointly by the Jill Hart Trust for Indo-Iranian Philology and by Wolfson College, Oxford. The object of the Jill Hart Trust is to support elementary language teaching and learning, and philological teaching and study, of Vedic Sanskrit and of the languages belonging to the Iranian branch of Indo-European at their earliest attested stages; and to support the study of the early linguistic history and prehistory of the Indo-Iranian language family. The post is open to applicants carrying out research in any area of Indo-Iranian philology coming under these terms. Applicants must have obtained a doctorate by 1 October 2010, and should not normally have completed it earlier than 1 October 2003. Applications from candidates who have completed a doctorate earlier than 1 October 2003 will be considered if they have had a career change or break.
