Freie Universität Berlin calls for applications for the M.A. program International Relations (IR) Online.
Application Deadline: April 30, 2006
Since the end of the Cold War and the 9/11 attacks, we witness the emergence of a multitude of new internationaland security issues arising in an increasingly globalized world. The nation-state as the primary actor in world politics is challenged by non-state actors and new forms of conflict. These changing parameters in world politic shave not yet been fully understood and demand international expertise and cooperation.
IR Online seeks to respond to these imperative needs with a program that provides you with in-depth knowledge on IR-related topics and theories and enables you to acquire relevant academic and applied research skills in these areas. In specially tailored modules you will be trained to analyze and evaluate IR-related issues from different disciplinary angles and assess developments in international politics in their respective institutional, economic, and social contexts. In addition, you will work with innovative IT and research tools in an international environment making use of state-of-the- art communication technology. Your web-based studies will be supported by in-house classes, thus combining international educational experience with innovative ways of knowledge-building.
IR Online is a Master of Arts program awarding 120 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
The distance learning program enables you to continue along your professional path while opening up new career perspectives.
Admission Requirements:
* a first university degree (B.A. or equivalent), preferably in political or social science, humanities, law or economics;
* one year of relevant postgraduate work experience;
