for research project SPI within the DFG Research Unit FOR 741 'Nanoscale Processes and Geomaterials Properties' (www.for741. de).
Tasks:
The main objective of this project is to develop realistic nanoscale models for grain boundaries in silicate minerals. Large scale classical and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations will be made to predict the atomic structure of interfaces and grain boundaries in rocks and to interpret experimental data from high-resolution transmission electron microscopy.
Qualification:
University degree in Earth or Materials Sciences, Physics or Chemistry
Experience in programming, preferably in Fortran
Good knowledge in crystallography, mineralogy or solid state physics
Ability and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team and to communicate with partners
Good command of English language
Start: As soon as possible
Duration: 3 years (2 plus 1)
Working time: 19,5 hours/week
Remuneration: EG 13 TVöD-O
