University of St Andrews 5 SIRE PhD Studentships Macroeconomics, Market or Contract Incompleteness School of Economics and Finance
The School of Economics and Finance at the University of St Andrews, is offering five PhD studentships to be taken up in Autumn 2007 - or as soon as possible thereafter - to work on topics related to macroeconomics, market or contract incompleteness or in related areas: *The emphasis is on developing microeconomic foundations for macroeconomic theories and policy advice*.
These scholarships are part funded by the Scottish Institute for Research in Economics which is a major new initiative between the Scottish Universities, in collaboration with the Scottish Funding Council, in which the University of St Andrews is a lead institution. You will work on these topics and undertake limited undergraduate teaching in return for a financial support package which will cover tuition fees in addition to an inflation-linked *studentship of £12,000 per year*.
You will have completed a Masters degree in economics or you will have at least an Honours degree-level education in a technical area such as mathematics or engineering. Offers of a studentship will be conditional on applicants being admitted to the University as a PhD student. Awards will be for one year in the first instance, with continuation for a further two years subject to satisfactory progress each year.
